Master server down!?
Seems the Quake master server is down for now. Which means SG game servers won't show up in the multiplayer menu. ARGGGHHH!
For a list of the IP addresses for current SG servers & how to join one see THIS TOPIC!
As noted in the last news post, our small dev team is making a push to release a 1.1 version candidate. All I can say is Stay Tuned for that.
The end of an era is near for fans of the USA based game server RAWHIDE. It's been a good seven year run, but all good things must come to an end. See THIS TOPIC for a farewell message & an invite to play there one last time. I'm out of practice, but this is a really good chance to shoot ol' ReD Neckerson if yer inclined to fill my belly with lead. Be warned... I'll likely shoot back, pilgrim.

Changing seasons
The Smokin' Guns development team is getting pretty small these days. Still, those of us who are still here will soon be testing a new package. Although it will not be everything that we envisioned, if it is acceptable, we will release it as an official version. With the exception of some new maps, 1.1 will feel a lot like our last beta, but it will still be an enormous update when compared to version 1.0
(No, we do not have a projected release date. As soon as we can comfortably do so, we will announce the date.)

The ever popular Baller Bude server, operated & maintained by our good buddy TheDoctor, is celebrating it's 2nd birthday November 9th. Head on over to THIS THREAD to participate in the poll, get some additional info, & there's a special link if you hurry. Happy B'day BB!

SG level designer Pardner has been working hard on his new map Death Valley Mine & it is coming along nicely. With any luck, this will be included in the next release. Head on over to his WIP thread for general info, videos & screenshots. Looking good Pard!
Ever wonder how much work goes into making a quality map? Check out Pardner's time lapse film of his latest project:

What you won't see in that vid is the hours & hours of learning that goes into level design.
Quote by Pardner: "In this map, I could not get good looking terrain and rock walls. So I stopped and took a 5 year break." Shocked

I'd like to remind everyone that LuckyGenDago has a dedicated TeamSpeak server running just for Smokin' Guns fans with plenty of user slots, so hop in & say howdy!

Lastly, a new forum section has been created to showcase videos of SG in action. Check out The Silver Screen for fan made films in all their glory!

Hmmm... Donuts
Howdy all, just a quick news update today. First off, today is the start of the =BB= clan's birthday tournament. If you want to keep up with the results or if you are a participant in the tournament, you can find the information in this thread or at their own website. Good luck gunslingers!

If you haven't been keeping up with the Moddb page, head on over and take gander at the growing addons page. There are some new models, skins, and plenty of maps. Pardner recently uploaded the finalized version of Comanche Canyon. If you want to play some of these maps online, TheDoctor's Terra Nova server is the place to be. Stop by this thread for more information.

Speaking of new maps and mappers, our amigo NubDonut has become more than just an amigo. I am proud to welcome !NuB!Donut into the Smokin' Guns dev member group.

This means the some of Donuts existing maps will be incorporated into the next SG release and hopefully we will be seeing some new content from him as well. So if you see him on the forums or in game, be sure to let him know you appreciate his hard work.

That does it this time around. As usual, if I forgot to mention something, let me know and I will get it posted right away!

~Pardner

Some better news
After last months less than stellar news post, I'm happy to report some better findings this time around.

!NuB!Donut & !NuB!muffin would like some feedback on their new level entitled Ghost Town. It's always refreshing to see budding mappers "stick with it" & produce something that really catches my eye. Is there a new sherriff in town on the mapping front? CLICK HERE for screenshots & a link to the download. Please be sure to report any bugs, as well as give your opinion of the map, to these promising level designers! Oh and check out the "pic-o-the-week" for one of my favorite scenes from Ghost Town.

Bart202 would like to announce a bank robbery tournament in honor of the -=BB=-Clan's one year anniversary. It's been awhile since I've seen an open tourney around here & it's a sight for sore eyes to be sure. Head on over to THIS PAGE for info. BANG-BANG.

In other news, I promised ZaPaTaSG months ago that I would mention something for him... but I sort of forgot. Embarassed The *LAME* clan was, & as far as I know still is, recruiting new members. If you enjoy playing SG & wonder if clan play might be for you, click THIS for contact info and a link to the website.

Where's the beef??
So, there hasn't been much to report in recent months. Our very small team is discussing our options regarding the next step. I know there are some fans who are very eager to know when we will present a newer version, but we truly aren't sure just yet. There are many loose ends to consider & we are trying to decide what sacrifices can be made in order to release sooner rather than later.

The list of new features that will be in the next official version is a big one. This video is a bit old, but it showcases some testing of "shooter entities" that will be available to level designers. Just one cool feature in a very long list of things to come. I don't remember if I posted this film on the news before or not, but I'll share it now anyway for folks who may not have seen it.

Holiday Gifts
Howdy folks. I hope everyone got shiny new colt pistols for Christmas? Or maybe a stocking stuffed with dynamite? No!? Well fear not. The Smokin' Guns community has plenty of gifts under the tree for you this season.
Here's the scoop:
!NuB!Donut has been hard at work honing his skills. Modelling, skinning, and level creation are areas he's been diving into. The latest product on the mesa is a deathmatch map he calls STATION. Click here for screenshots, info, & a download link to a beta version of the level. I chose one of the screenshots for POTW, so check it out. Screenshots and download information can be found in this thread. He has also been at work creating new Civil War characters.
Barto wishes everyone holiday cheer with a small deathmatch level giftwrapped for your fragging pleasure. It's a small remake of a "Gunslinger Quake 2" map originally by Shadowfire. You can get the goods at this link.
For you Linux fans, PLAYDEB offers several Ubuntu downloads of SG. I'm told this should help Ubuntu users install SG with fewer problems.
KillerMiller made a nice desktop wallpaper if you're interested in decorating your pc with some SG swag.
Kaiyouw has announced his plans for a new bank robbery level he calls Br_Tijuana. Screenshots & info available at the link.
MsH is working on his new level called Deadwood. Click here for info, screenshot & a link to try out the beta.
Lon' has posted up a new gameplay video he put together from some recent multiplayer action. You can comment & check out his other videos here.

That's it for this news post. As always, if I missed something of importance you can reply to this post & we'll see if we can rectify the oversight. Happy Holidays & see you on the servers!

Contributor Content, Desura, and Moddb
!NuB!Donut has been working hard to add his ideas into Smokin' Guns. He has re-released his Nub Map pack up on Moddb for you to download. So if you haven't already, give it a download and let him know what you think.

!NuB!Donut has also been trying his hand in modeling (some pun intended). He has modified Tuco and Sentenza into mighty Indians for your shooting pleasure! You can get the files from Moddb as well, and make sure you post your comments and feedback in this thread.

But wait! There is more from !NuB!Donut. What would an Indian be without his trusty bow and arrow? !NuB!Donut has also been working with Tequilla to bring you an new weapon. You can get more information about the new weapon here in this thread.

So while are you at Moddb downloading !NuB!Donut's map pack and Indian model...
