Okay,

here we are.

Zip packages for the beta are currently uploaded on my own site:
http://www.smokinguns.fr/download/SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1.zip
http://www.smokinguns.fr/download/SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1-engine-only.zip

To check download integrity, here are MD5 and SHA1 sums:
Code:
File sizes:
 7.1M SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1-engine-only.zip
 21M SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1.zip
MD5SUM:
d5e32662a825d9c229007a82e7383ef8  SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1-engine-only.zip
475199d1f0e95269024cee42edba802c  SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1.zip
SHA1SUM:
32edc6df4f9872f20deeb9accc4bcdac5be226a5  SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1-engine-only.zip
b194b7eb25390925436c9e4241cec395becd3041  SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1.zip

I uploaded the SmokinGuns-Beta-1.1b1-engine-only.zip to SF download section. I didn't include sg_maps1.pk3 there as content sources are not in SF repository.

You'll find also binary alternate files provided by sparcdr on his site:
http://www.smokin-guns.org/downloads/binaries/r359/
There are x86 MacOSX build, more Win32 native build, OpenSolaris build and FreeBSD build.

Note:
About win32 builds, smokinguns.exe & smokinguns_dedicated.exe are the native builds provided by sparcdr (other builds available on his site: http://www.smokin-guns.org/downloads/binaries/r359/). I renamed the cross-compiled ones with "mingw32-crosscompiled" and shouldn't be used by default but as an alternative: For example, I can't start sparcdr builds with wine under linux as I'm missing some proprietary M$ DLLs but the cross-compiled one is running perfectly with the provided SDL & openal32 DLLs.
Don't worry about *.x86.exe, they are there by my mistake and they are just copied from mingw32-crosscompiled flavoured binaries.

Cool

Ok, so on Windows, smokinguns.exe is the file to try first. If you get an error, try starting smokinguns.x86.exe instead. The latter doesn't depend on msvcr90.dll, which is a good thing.

Maybe it's just my ping to the test server (almost 200 - usually I play under 100), but I'm having a very hard time hitting bots with the sharps rifle (with our without scope). Shots that I'm positive are kills aren't even touching them. I'm only hitting about 1 in 10 times with it, whereas usually I'd say I'm about 1 in 2 (these are wide open shots). Again, there is a very good chance it's just the ping, since I'm not used to that bad of ping.

Never mind, I think it was definitely ping. I put it on single player, and was actually hitting about 90% of shots with the sharps (I think better than normal, because I put it on the nice dot crosshair).

unless you got hard packetloss, unlagged should take care of your ping-issue

so if unlagged is enabled, you should hit.. even with ping 200

Hi.

Because this is my first post ever, i want to emphazise how great this game is. Gameplay wise, bankrobbery is amazingly good. Thank you developers all very much.

Now to my findings concerning beta: On a Mini Core Duo with OS X 10.5.8 I can't seem to get sparcdr's binaries to run. It returns:

Code:
dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022
Trace/BPT trap

Happy coding, see you in game.

Thanks & welcome tmp,

if you have an older binary, can you still try it and connect on one of my online BETA servers ? If you can run BETA game with that older one, tell us which one.

Hey Tequila.

I am currently running game out of dmg in /downloads/packages/mac/. With that and the additional pk3s from beta i can connect to PUBLIC, BR_ONLY and DEBUG BETA just fine. It is with these exact pk3 files, that build r359 won't run on my system.

(By the way, nice new level loading font.)

I'm not as confident as sparcdr with the MacOSX build.
What do you mean ? You can't use the MacOSX build from sparcdr and it still runs with your older binary ?
Can you open your console pressing key '~' and check the engine version at the bottom right of the console, then tell us what your read ?
Thanks

I am sorry for any inconvenience.

I am currently running a .app package which i get out of Smokin' Guns 1.0 dmg located in /downloads/packages/mac/ on this site. sparcdr new build r359 seems to consist of a very similar .app package, without the pk3 files in it. So i am comparing these two with each other. However if i try to run r359 (for this purpose i am putting pk3s inside application) it returns the above error.

My current application (i added the beta pk3s to its content) shows its engine as 1.1_svn216m via console.

Hey sparc.

Thank you, works well. I am now at engine 1.1_SVN365. I got a lot of
Code:
WARNING: unhandled AL error: invalid name
s, though. Could not connect it to anything in game. Plays well with jeuxlinux.

From now on I will also use the appropriate way of posting a bug, like described by Tequila, sorry about that.
